It was revealed over the weekend that Russian-American businesswoman Dasha Zhukova, 38, the ex-wife of Roman Abramovich, is engaged to her long-term boyfriend, Greek billionaire and shipping heir Stavros Niarchos, 33.
The engagement was announced at Zhukova’s birthday party in New York, which was attended by many celebrities, including David Beckham and Liv Tyler.
Zhukova has two children with her ex-husband, the Russian-Israeli billionaire businessman Roman Abramovich. They split formally in August of last year, according to court documents filed in New York. The divorce provided Zhukova with property worth $92 million, including a four-story Manhattan mansion.
At the time, the two said that they were committed to raising their children together and working together as co-founders of the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art and the New Holland Island cultural center in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Niarchos and Zhukova have tried to keep their relationship under wraps – turning up to many of the same social events separately and being careful not to be photographed together.
Niarchos still managed to pop up on social media during that time, but he studiously avoided being photographed in group shots uploaded by people who attended the events.
Zhukova’s relationship with Niarchos was confirmed in January, when Niarchos spent New Year’s Eve in Peru with the Russian-American and her friends, including the jeweler Jennifer Meyer, music magnate David Geffen, screenwriter Erin Foster, supermodel Karlie Kloss, and venture capitalist Josh Kushner.
The magazine Vanity Fair Espana first reported on the relationship in August of 2018, just after Zhukova’s divorce settlement had been confirmed.
