Acclaimed Greek film director Yorgos Lanthimos will be among the members of this year’s jury for the 72nd annual Cannes Film Festival, the event organizers announced on Monday.

Lanthimos will be one of the four male members of the eight-member jury, which will judge the movies which will participate in this year’s prestigious French festival.

The president of the jury, filmmaker Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu, noted that ”four women and four men, from four continents and from seven different nationalities” will compose the Cannes jury for 2019.

Lanthimos will serve with American actress Elle Fanning, Maimouna N’Diaye, an actress and director from Burkina Faso, Kelly Reichardt, an acclaimed director, screenwriter and editor from the US, and Alice Rohrwacher, the well-known Italian director and screenwriter.

The three male members of the jury who will take part along with Lanthimos in this year’s Festival are Enki Bilal, a French director and author of graphic novels, Robin Campillo, a French director, screenwriter and producer; and Paweł Pawlikowski, a Polish director and screenwriter.

Lanthimos attracted global media attention with last year’s film ”The Favourite,” which managed to secure numerous awards at the Oscars, the Golden Globes, the BAFTAs and other prestigious international festivals in 2018.
