Customs officers on the island of Malta seized 90 kilos (198 pounds) of cocaine having a street value of almost €10 million on Boxing Day, December 26th. The drug shipment was apparently destined for Thessaloniki.

The drugs were discovered hidden in two containers originating from Ecuador which were en route to the Greek city.

Officials responsible for scanning containers passing through Malta’s Freeport discovered 35 packages with 42 kg (93 pounds) of cocaine hidden in the refrigeration compressor of one container, and 40 packets with 48kg (106 pounds) of cocaine in a second container.
