Skopje Airport Name Change Becomes Official

Skopje’s commitment to rename FYROM’s international airport became law this week as the decision was published in the country’s Official Gazette.

Signs reading “Alexander the Great Highway” will also be replaced by those bearing its new name “Friendship Highway” the decision published in Wednesday’s document states.

The moves follow a commitment by the country’s leader, Zoran Zaev, last month to remove some of FYROM’s controversial nomenclature in an attempt to boost talks with Greece over the long-running name dispute.

Its airport will be renamed Skopje International Airport.
