The Greeks of London, Frankfurt and Zurich on Sunday joined their voices with those of the hundreds of thousands of demonstrators in Athens who rallied against the use of the word ‘Macedonia‘ in the name of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
Hundreds of London expatriates gathered outside the Houses of Parliament, chanting Greece’s national anthem and shouting slogans about Macedonia being Greek.
“We are proud Greeks, we will not give up, we will fight,” a woman who participated in the demonstration said on ANT1 television.
The protesters waved the Greek flag and shouted slogans against the use of the term ‘Macedonia’ in the name of the Balkan country.
Carrying placards and the Greek flag, they voiced their belief that Macedonia is Greek and accused Greek politicians of “selling out” over the issue.
