Inspired by ‘Iketides’: George Drivas’ ‘Laboratory of Dilemmas’ at 57th International Art Exhibition in Venice

The Greek artist, George Drivas, will be displaying his video installation titled Laboratory of Dilemmas as he represents Greece at the 57th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia.

The event in Venice, Italy, will be taking place from May 13 until November 26.

The narrative/video installation is based on Aeschylus’ theatre play “Iketides” (Suppliant Women) which was written between 463-464 BC and was the first literary text known to have reflected on the issues of a persecuted group of people seeking asylum.

The installation is based on the play which deals with the dilemma between saving the “Foreigner” or maintaining the safety of the “Native”.

Laboratory of Dilemmas is presented on screens with audio through speakers which have been placed in an installation divided into three parts: the Upper Level, the Lower Level/Labyrinth and the Screening Room.
