Greek Pianist Receives Standing Ovation After Performance in Rome

kapelis-708Music lovers in Rome gave Greek pianist Alexandros Kapelis a standing ovation at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, after his unprecedented “Greek Myth and the Piano” program.

“This is a series of seven concerts, from Milan to Sicily, in some of the country’s most important theaters,” said the Greek artist in an interview with ANA-MPA. Alexandros Kapelis presented the program last year, at the presidential palace Quirinale in Rome in the presence of former President of the Greek Republic Karolos Papoulias and former President of the Italian Republic Giorgio Napolitano.

“All music pieces, from the seventeenth century to Manos Hatzidakis and Yannis Konstantinidis, are connected. The common thread that connects them is Greece and its mythology, the way it is interpreted in different countries and in different aesthetic views,” added the internationally acclaimed Greek pianist.

“The Greek Myth Recital has already been presented in Paris, San Francisco, Washington and in many other cities with great success, but I feel that the performance in Italy is more important, since the audience showed its love and felt sincere intimacy,” Kapelis said about his performance in the Italian capital.
