Dijsselbloem: EU Should Cut Fund to States Refusing Migrants

DijsselbloemEurogroup Jeroen Dijsselbloem has said that less money should be given from European sources to EU countries that refuse to take in refugees, the German media reported on Tuesday.

German Frankfurter Allgemeine reported that Dijsselbloem expressed his thoughts on this matter as a reaction to the election results in Poland, where the eurosceptic conservative Law and Justice Party won.

Jaroslaw Kaczynski’s party has said that they were against Poland accepting Muslim migrants as part of their pre-election strategy.

The Eurogroup President said that countries like Poland receive millions of euros from the EU every year, and that certain exchanges are accepted along this line.

“Otherwise, maybe we need to use part of the EU budget, for example the funds given to Poland, the Czech Republic, and Hungary, to fund the care of asylum seekers in Turkey,” Dijsselbloem said.
