Yorgos Lanthimos Screens New Film “The Lobster” in London

Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos walked the red carpet of the British Film Institute’s Film Festival, on Tuesday, accompanied by Collin Farrell and Rachel Weisz, for the screening of Lanthimos’s latest movie, “The Lobster“.

“The Lobster” is set in a society in which individuals are sent to a hotel and limited to 45 days to find their romantic partner, failure to find a partner results in an individual being transformed into an animal and cast into the wilderness.

The stars of the film include leading actors Farrell and Weisz, as well as Olivia Coleman, John C. Reilly and Lea Seydoux.

Lanthimos, who was nominated for an Academy Award for his film “Dogtooth” in 2011, directed and co-wrote “The Lobster” along with Efthimis Filippou.

“The Lobster” was the recipient of three awards at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, including the Grand Jury Prize; an award bestowed by the jury of the festival.

The film has also had positive critical reviews on the online film review sites Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes, it premiers on October 16th in the UK and October 22nd in Greece.
