Anonymous Hate-Filled Letter To Greek Restaurateur In Germany

GermanyGreece

With Greece and its shaky future on the European table and the German press “embellishing” almost all of its top headlines with indirect comments about Greece’s controversial bailout program, an anonymous writer took the initiative to target the Greek family business “Restaurant Platon” in Düsseldorf, Germany.

By sending a provocative letter full of insults against the Greek people, the anonymous writer characterizes their newly elected government as “brash and disgraceful” behaving like “a mob of crude, mannerless jerks.” In the mail, Greece is accused of blackmailing other hardworking countries in order to continue its lazy and comfortable lifestyle. “Pay taxes… why? Work… why? Lying in the sun is much more easy, especially when others pay for you to do it”, are some of the harsh vilifying phrases that are referred into the text.

And the disgrace continues: “Seeing that this government insists on despicably ridicule and offend the particularly hardworking and economical Europeans and Germans, we will no longer be buying anymore Greek goods, nor entering your premises.” “Go back to your unethical, nasty and utterly incapable dirty Greece,” is the harsh conclusive sentence being chosen by the unknown writer.

After the first shock provoked by receiving this “hate mail,” the owner of the “Platon’s Restaurant,”, Mrs. Dora, hastened to express her abhorrence to this isolated incident by posting her thoughts on the restaurant’s official page on Facebook. “Dear guests and friends, our family runs the “Restaurant Platon” in Düsseldorf for 31 years. We live in Germany and feel connected to Germany. We speak and write German and pay taxes just like every citizen in Germany. We have created jobs and built our life here… It is a shame to feel unwelcome after 31 years” she wrote.
