trojan womenMore than 70 films and 20 shorts will be presented at this year’s Greek Film Festival in London, set to premiere Monday, October 6 with a special screening of Michael Cacoyannis’s “Trojan Women.”

Film screenings will take place at Westbourne Studios (242 Acklam Road, London W10 5JJ), close to Portobello, London’s most artistic neighborhood. 20 previews of shorts and featured films will be presented online.

The program includes fiction feature films – “The Final Payment,” directed by Alex Leontaritis; “Pandemy,” directed by Dimitris Piatas – fiction shorts – “Panagiotis Tetsis Playing with Colours,” directed by Yiannis Vamvakas – as well as experimental and video art films.

The festival accepts films and screenplays by modern Greek artists from all over the world, as well as submissions from international filmmakers, producers, artists and writers whose work is somehow related to Greece. Under the artistic direction of Christos Prossylis, the Greek Film Festival is one of the most significant venues promoting modern Greek culture in London.

The London Greek Film Festival provides networking and collaboration opportunities while advancing new technologies that combine classic cinema with the newest contours of contemporary filmmaking.

On October 18, the festival will conclude with the “Odysseus Awards,” held in London’s Theatro Techni (26 Crowndale Road, London, NW1 1TT). Awards will be presented to the best films in each genre, as well as film directors, writers, actors and artists.
