Greek Consulate Transferred from Mariupol to Dnipropetrovsk for Security Reasons

Mariupol_PapadreouAccording to Greece’s Foreign Ministry, the Greek Consulate in Mariupol, Ukraine, will urgently be transferred from Mariupol to Dnipropetrovsk, due to the hostilities in the region, after the Consul General’s request.

“Greek Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos has accepted the proposal of the Consul General of Greece in Mariupol, Dimitrios Papandreou (photo), for the immediate transfer of the headquarters of the Consulate General and its temporary relocation in the city of Dnipropetrovsk,” said the Ministry with an announcement.

“Mr. Venizelos ordered the update of all representatives of the Greek community on the Consulate General’s transfer, which will continue to provide normal services to expatriates. The Foreign Ministry is in constant contact with the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry in order to ensure the safety of Greeks living in Ukraine,” the announcement concluded.
