World Class Bartender 2014: A Greek Claims First Place

bartenderFor the sixth consecutive year, the World Class Bartender — an international training program that elevates the craft of the bartending profession — will choose the best bartender among all the countries of the world. Greece has already won once and this year it is time for Theo Spyropoulos to compete for the first place.

The biggest internationally known competition has already trained more than 17,000 bartenders from 50 different countries in the last 6 years. Until now the first five best bartenders of the world have been nominated. Aristotle Papadopoulos from Greece is one of them and was the big winner of the 2009 competition.

This year Theo Spyropoulos was one of the 150 Greek bartenders who participated in the competition, standing out due to his innovative cocktails and winning at the National Finals. Theo will go on to represent Greece and compete on a global scale at the World Class finals that will take place July in Great Britain.

Nowadays, cocktails are a new trend that requires knowledge, talent and a bartender, who with sophistication and impeccable service creates inspiring cocktails that surprise the senses.

Over the last 10 years, Theo has been honing his skills as a bartender in one of Athens’ hotspots, and has experienced the change from barman to bartender “due to new trends, fashion and professionalism in the bar business,” he said.
