World Champion Aged 85

champion-85 (1)Even in his 90’s, Konstantinos Chatziemmanouil is still going strong, competing and winning one medal after the other.

The 85 year-old Konstantinos Chatziemmanouil from the Greek island of Kos in the South Aegean Sea of Greece, won the gold medal at the World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships held in Hungary Budapest for the 200 meter in the M85 category with a time of 41.87 seconds. Chatziemmanouil who beat his competitors and is now at the top of the world, also competed in the 800 meter final where he was ranked fifth.

Chatziemmanouil along with his teammate, the 43 year-old Imvraim Fanartzis, departed for Hungary on Tuesday, March 25. The two athletes competed  under the Greek flag in the World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships that took place from March 25 to March 30. Imvraim Fanartzis won the silver medal in shot put.
