The Greeks from Thessaly, Greece, in Europe celebrated the tenth anniversary since the founding of their Federation with a festival that was held in Brühl of Cologne. Cultural associations from many parts of Germany responded to the call in order to present musical and theatrical events directly interwoven with the Thessalian tradition.
The president of the Federation of Thessalian Associations in Europe Diamantis Gkikas declared the official opening of the 10th Festival of Thessalians in Europe noting the important role of Thessalian associations abroad for the dissemination of tradition and the maintenance of the Greek identity.
Mr. Gkikas was pleasantly surprised when the members of the Federation honored him for his contribution to the spread and continuation of tradition, culture and history of Thessaly.
Greece’s Consul in Dusseldorf Gregory Delavekouras, the mayor of Trikkaia, councilors of the municipalities of Trikala and Kalabaka and the deputy mayor of Brühl Heinz Jung also attended the event.
