Operation Costs for Greek Schools in Germany

schoolThe Ministry of Education spent 3.908 million euros in 2013, on operation expenses for Greek schools in Germany and the salaries of contract teachers. According to a document of the Ministry of Education, the Greek State provides free Greek language education in Germany through a total of 78 educational units operating in the country, 32 out of which are Greek schools.

Τhese schools provided with free education and the Ministry of Education sends additional teachers every year. For the 2012-13 school year, 334 teachers were sent to Germany. The staffing is supplemented with 17 permanent contract teachers and 53 teachers whose salaries are paid by the German State.

Students in these schools are provided with free books from CTI – Diophantus, with the exception of high school English books. Since 2010 the parents’ association is in charge of distributing the books.

On the same note, the Greek Ministry of Education mentions the conditions that must be met by Greek school graduates who wish to continue their studies at German universities.

More specifically, students who complete their secondary education in Greek schools in Germany and want to continue their studies at German universities will need a certificate of participation in the Special General Examinations held in September in Greece for graduates of Greek schools abroad.
