Cephalonia at the BIT International Tourism Fair in Milan

BIT International Tourism Fair 2014

The BIT International Tourism Fair 2014 which was held in Milan in February 13-15 conveyed positive messages for the Greek island of Cephalonia. Cephalonia participated in the International Tourism Fair in the pavilion of the Ionian Islands and was represented by the Federation of Rented Accommodation of Cephalonia and Ithaca and by the Hoteliers Association of Cephalonia.

The Deputy Mayor of Culture and Tourism of the municipality of Cephalonia Vangelis Kekatos who represented the Greek Municipality in Milan stated that in collaboration with the Director of the Greek National Tourism Organization (EOT) Kyriaki Boulasidou, they realized important meetings with European travel agencies, maritime companies’ managers as well as the Director of GRIMALDI LINES Fausto Di Niro in order to examine the possibility of Cephalonia’s connection to Italy through the sea.

In addition, Mr. Kekatos met with the Mayor of Ischia Island Giuseppe Ferrandino on the occasion of the twinning protocol signing between the two islands.

At the same time, a cooperation with the head of the Hellenic Institute of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Studies in Venice Pantelis Papadopoulos and the Professor of the Ca’Foscari University Evgenia Liosatou was planned in order to organize together a special cultural event for the promotion of Cephalonia in Venice.
