The German Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Hans Joachim Fuchtel, met in Vienna with the Greek Orthodox Metropolitan Arsenios of Austria and Exarch of Hungary and Central Europe, in the historical building of the Metropolis of Austria.

During their meeting, the German politician stated that Chancellor Angela Merkel really cares about Greeks, and makes regular contact with Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras.

After his meeting with Fuchtel, Arsenios said that the German Deputy Minister considers that the reservations towards Germany and Merkel are unreasonable, as the German Chancellor cares about Greece.  Fuchtel said that a cooperation of the two countries is promoted, with emphasis given on the exchange of technical knowledge.

Fuchtel asked for the contribution of the Metropolitan and the Greek church, in order to promote and develop programs aimed at training unemployed youth. The metropolitan appeared willing to help the realization of these programs. He said that the church can provide buildings as well as human resources.

Moreover, the metropolitan pointed out the language problem that Greeks face when coming to Austria. As he said, the funding of seminars is essential to help them learn the language.

Finally, Arsenios stated that the church is trying in every possible way, to help and offer relief to the Greeks that are suffering.
