Exhibition: History of Ancient Macedonia in Brussels

ancient macedonia_exhibitionAncient Macedonia will be revived through an exhibition which will take place at the European Parliament in Brussels for a few days.

“Arts and crafts in Greek antiquity: Selected finds from a royal necropolis in Northern Greece” is the title of the exhibition with photographs of the findings and the history of Royal Tombs of Vergina. This exhibition is organized by Chrysoula Paliadeli–Pasok MP–who is professor of Archaeology at Aristotle University.

The pictures show the palace, theater, market and cemetery of the ancient city as well as  illustrations of sculpture, miniature, tombstones, jewelery, weapons and pottery urns. All these, are reflecting the utmost importance of the history and culture of ancient Macedonians, and a crucial contribution to the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki excavation procedure.

The exhibition through these photographs also honors the people of the academic society who contributed to archaeology through their important findings connected to ancient Macedonia. In 1937, Professor Constantine Roman took the initiative to start an excavation, and in 1977 Professor Manolis Andronikos highlighted the importance of the archaeological site of Vergina.

Vergina is an exceptional testimony to a significant development in European civilization, at the transition from the classical city-state to the imperial structure of the Hellenistic and Roman periods. In particular, this is demonstrated by the remarkable series of royal tombs and their rich contents. The paintings found at Vergina are of extraordinarily high quality and historical importance.

  1. By trying to outsmart every body in this world,you are digging yourselves deeper in the hole.
    Here are some statistics taken by the three Macedonian occupiers before the partition of Macedonia in 1913;
    In 1899,Nikolaides said:Macedonians=454,000,no Serbs and no Bulgaians,he furthere says that there were 656,300=Greeks +576,600 Turks.
    Here is an estimate by a Bulgarian Kenvhov in 1900; 0 Macedonians+400 Serbs+1,037,000 Bulgarians+214,000 Greeks +610,365 Turks.
    Here is the Serbian Gopchevich 1886;0 Macedonians+1,540,000 Serbs+0 Bulgarians+201,000Greeks+397,020Turks.
    Above statistics are those of the Greeks,Bulgarians and Serbians.
    Now lets see what the following “historians”have said;
    Dr.K.Ostreich,1905 estimates as follows;
    Macedonians=1,500,000+200,000 Greeks+550,000Turks+No Serbs nor Bulgarians.
    K.Gersin,1903 an Austrian estimates as follows;
    Macedonians=1,182,036+228,702 Greeks+627,915 Turks.
    An English,Andrew Rousos estimates as follows;
    Macedonians=1,150,000+300,000Greeks+400,000Turks.Shows no Serbs nor Bulgarians.This second table is from the independent and neutral European Statistics of Macedonia’s Population.
    As you can see from the first three estimates,each is trying to portray their own biased estimates that even today continues by the Bulgarians and Greeks.
    I suggest to you,read the book of “Wheat,Hills of Blood:Passages to Nationhood in Greek Macedonia 1870-1990″by Karakasidou(University of Chicago Press,1997.Also you should read”Population Exchange in Greek Macedonia:the Rural Setlement of Refugees 1922-1930 by Elisabeth Kontogiorgi Clarendon Press(Oxford)2006.Reviewed by Melina Grizo*.
    By using your theory,you are confirming John Adams true description of the Greeks as being”corrupted in their morals to such a degree,as to be faithless,perfidious race,destitute of courage…”
    Greeks proved it above while applying for the Euro zone,and they still beg and spending someone else’s money like drunken sailors!
    After all this,you still feel proud of your politicians who are not even Greeks,beside that you have no blood line to the ancient Hellens.Ancient Hellens must be turning in their graves!
    Greece is being governed by Albanians and Turks,and as an example,Papulias (Sulayman) an Albanian and Venizelos(Turkoglou)meaning Turkish son.
    Have a nice day!
