Greek Wins 1 million Euros but Will Continue to Work

His name is Georgios Valavanis. He is a Greek homogenous from Samothrace, living in Germany.

On the evening of October 25, the 51 year-old man won a million euros on the TV show titled “Day of Fortune,” held in Munich, the German state lottery SKL.

laxnosGeorge Valavanis was holding a winning lottery ticket. After 120 minutes of impressive games, music and other various demonstrations, the super lucky Greek man became the ultimate star of the evening.

As he stated, the first thought that crossed his mind was that now all his wishes have come true; a home for him and his wife and two apartments for his two sons.”I do not need more than that,” he commented.

He also explained that he will remain “down to earth” and will continue to go to work everyday. The purchase of a new car for example, is not on his list of priorities.

He has been working at Daimler, for the last 28 years, like his father and now his eldest son.

George Valavanis immigrated to Germany in 1972 with his family, and Stuttgart, where he lives and works, has become his second home. As he said: “I never regretted coming to Germany,” stressing that “I work here, something that is really appreciated especially in times like these.” As for whether he would return to Greece, he categorically answered no, but he will definitely visit his country during the next holidays.
