With a political firestorm still raging in Greece over the government’s decision to suddenly shut down the national broadcaster ERT, the German Chancellery repeated that Berlin is not involved in the way Greece applies necessary reforms and that it’s up to Greece to decide their implementation.
In order to reply to successive questions concerning the situation in Greece, the deputy spokesman of the German Chancellery Georg Streiter, as well as the representatives of the Ministries of Finance and Foreign Affairs insisted it’s staying out of Greek affairs, especially after so much criticism against Chancellor Angela Merkel for insisting on austerity measures.
