Dourakis Winery Wins Silver Medal

Greek_wineThe Greek winery Andreas Dourakis of Chania, Crete was named number two in the London International Wine Fair 2013, among 14,362 entries.

The International Wine Fair took place in London on May 20-22 and on May 20, the jury’s president Steven Spurrier announced the results of the Decanter Magazine World Wine Awards for 2013. This is probably the most valid and important wine fair in Europe and among the most important in the world.

The white sweet wine Euphoria Romeiko 2012 was awarded second, while the entries numbered 14,362 from 52 countries around the world, compared to 14,119 in 2012.

Judges in Decanter Awards 2013 were 219 wine experts from 27 countries, 75 Masters of Wine and 13 Master Sommeliers included among them. It was one of the greatest panels in the world.

The Decanter Award was given to a total of 9,873 wines: 156 Regional Trophies, 229 Gold Medals, 1,665 Silver Medals, 4,165 Bronze Medals and 3,658 Commended.
