The total number of Belgian tourists that have made package bookings for their summer holidays, mainly in Greece, has increased, as pointed out in a reportage published in the newspaper De Tijd under the title Increase of bookings in vacation packages.
The newspaper refers to data of the Association of Belgian Tour Operators (ABTO), which shows that for the first time in the last five years an upward trend in Belgian tourists’ reservations for the summer has been recorded.
According to De Tijd, as far as vacation packages are concerned, the biggest increase is noted for Greece (+18,9%) and Turkey (+13,1%), while there is a decrease in reservations to Tunisia (-18,7%) and Egypt (-7,8%).
ABTO represents 88 percent of organized tourism in Belgium.
