Bartholomew On Imbros for Easter

02f844da9e0f1e8033e9355a57d9f816Patriarch Bartholomew will spend the Holy Week at his birthplace, Imbros, which is the largest island of Turkey and constitutes a district of Çanakkale Province. It is located in the Aegean Sea, at the entrance of Saros Bay and is also the westernmost point of Turkey.

The Patriarch often visits his beloved island to rest and contemplate. But this year’s visit will be completely different, because Bartholomew is going to celebrate Easter with his family who live around the world. He will be joined by his brother Antonis, who lives in France, his brother Nikos who lives in Australia, as well as his sister Zacharo who lives in Athens.

Bartholomew will have the chance this Easter to resurrect in his heart and thought people that have had a decisive influence on his life. He will celebrate the death of the deaths and the beginning of a new life after Resurrection.
