Hamburg Demonstration in Solidarity For Greece

afisaAccording to Hamburger Abendblatt, a demonstration in solidarity for Greece took place on April 27 in the German city of Hamburg.

About 900 people, the majority of whom were leftists, gathered at the occupied theater Rote Flora in Hamburg under the slogan, “For the social uprising! Solidarity to self-organized struggles in Greece and worldwide! For the destruction of Power!” and marched in the central railway station.

About 1,200 policemen guarded the demonstration but no incidents were noted, according to the article.

The demonstration was against the economic crisis, the rise of neo-fascism, increased state repression, eviction of squats and crackdowns on migrants.

“When we look at Greece, what we share is the ideas against any form of domination as well as the passion for freedom. We want to break the monotony and oppressive normalcy that prevail in these parts, and fight together toward liberation from power,” as noted by those who called for the demonstration.
