About a hundred Bulgarians staged a thirty-minute blockade of the border crossing Ilinden-Exochi on the Bulgarian-Greek border on April 26.
The demonstrators are local people from the nearby municipalities of Gotse Delchev, Hadzhidimovo, Satovcha and Garmen.
They complained about the Greek border police’s behavior toward Bulgarian drivers, such as stopping vehicles with Bulgarian tags without a reason, fining drivers without explanations, and sometimes confiscating license plates until the often hefty fines are paid.
The demonstrators are firm they will stage a repeat next Saturday if a satisfactory solution to their problems is not found by then.
