Meteora, Crete Get Austrians Notice

meteora2Two of Greece’s most alluring attractions, Meteora and Crete, are starring features in well-known publications in Austria for Easter.

The Austrian newspaper Kourier hosts in the special insert Leisure, an eight-page tribute to Meteora, entitled  Between Heaven and Earth. The newspaper Die Presse is showcasing Crete, entitled Open Doors, Palatable Routes.

Kourier includes rich photographic material and mentions the “uniqueness of the exciting world of Meteora, in combination with the devotion and faith that surround it.” The tribute also refers to the story of the erection of the 24 monasteries of Meteora, which are included among World Cultural Heritage sites by UNESCO.

The story includes details about the lifestyle of monks, as well as about the days and the hours to visit these monasteries. The reader is also provided with important information concerning the access to the monasteries.

creteThe story about Crete talks about the different routes to be followed by anyone who wants to discover the unknown places of the island and the hidden aspects of the lives of local people, associated with the production of renowned traditional products, from olives, and olive oil and “the honey of King Minos,” to the “homemade raki and tsikoudia”.

There is also information about hotels. Austrians favor Greece for vacations and hundreds of thousands of them visit each year, among the largest ratio of Europeans.
