German Federal Deputy Labor Minister, Hans-Joachim Fuchtel visited the Greek Minister of Tourism, Olga Kefalogianni on March 26. He pointed out that Greece is a wonderful country for vacation all year long. It is a country that has made a remarkable progress, is absolutely safe and worth visiting.In that way, he sent a message to German tourists, encouraging them to spend their holidays in Greece.
The 74-year-old former football manager who coached Greece to its stunning victory in the 2004 European Championships, Otto Rehhagel, attended the meeting as well. Rehhagel has accepted Angela Merkel’s proposition to become a goodwill ambassador of Germany in Greece, traveling with officials on a regional government cooperation program. He arrived in Greece on March 25, Greece’s Independence Day.
“The purpose of the visit is to make clear the deep bond between Greece and Germany … He will visit Greece with the slogan ‘We encourage the Greeks, our friends”, a statement from the German Embassy had previously said.
“There will be no political review of the current situation. The visit is aimed at encouraging the Greeks.”
