Greek Designers Show Greece’s Good Side

Crisis-is-a-Greek-wordCrisis is a Greek Word is the title of the Greek Designers global initiative to describe Greece during its crisis. The country’s deep recession and harsh austerity has inspired 50 top Greek Visual Communication Designers, with more than 1,240 international and national distinctions, to participate for the first time at a common exhibition, its sole aim being to convey a message of creativity about their homeland.

The premier exhibitionwill be held at the faculty of the Fine Arts and Design, Dept of Visual Communication Design of the Izmir University of Economics in Turkey from March 13-29.

There is an one day event set for March 29 for both Turkish and Greek designers, researchers, scholars and anybody interested to discuss the issue of ‘crisis’ through design as well as real life experiences.

Three design teams from Greece (Asprimera, 2Yolk, Nomint) that take part in this very exhibition, will open the floor with their experience of living and working in a crisis-stricken country, and welcome ideas for interactive happenings, workshops, seminars, and generally opportunities for co-creation during the event.

A poster competition is now underway in Turkey, over the same issue for Turkish designers as well. The poster that is to be selected, will be incorporated in the main exhibit and will be traveling with us to the next cities. That same procedure will be repeated in each city.
