Up Greek Tourism Campaign in London

up greek tourismThe voluntary campaign made by Greeks living in the U.S.A, under the name Up Greek Tourism, will travel to Piccadilly Circus in London. The volunteers who started the campaign have raised 12,000 pounds through social media to fund the project.
Billboards will be posted in the center of London on Jan. 31, to motivate the British to choose Greece for their holidays.

It is noteworthy that the campaign of Greeks living abroad has already run in New York and Washington. It was launched in 2009 in an effort to face the crisis. “We understand that this is a tough period and we thank the people contributing to our campaign. We are touched by their love for Greece, ” Katerina Spetsiou, manager of the campaign in London, noted.

“Thanks to their generosity we can contribute to our country’s economy by boosting tourism, something really useful in our period,” she added.

According to Up Greek Tourism, this campaign is managed by Greeks around the world on a voluntary basis, a private initiative aiming to promote Greece as a tourist destination. With no budget or hired professionals and using Loudsauce as its platform, these people have already completed two projects in New York City and Washington DC and they just finished funding for the third one in London. Campaigns are promoted mainly via social media networks, such as Facebook and Twitter.

The main objective of the UP Greek Tourism campaign is to promote Greek tourism abroad in two ways: directly, through outdoor advertising campaign, and indirectly by word of mouth through traditional and social media which will re-produce the campaign.
