mount athosMt. Athos’ reputation for great food has once again reached the German audience after Gourmet magazine presented a special section on Monastic Cuisine following a food and wine tasting there.

Dionysos Greek restaurant in Stuttgart presented Mt. Athos as a holiday destination, featuring activities there as well as other attractions that make it a World Heritage Monument site. Wines from Mount Athos, Metohi Xromitsas in the Holy Monastery of St. Panteleimon as well as the Holy Monastery of Great Lavras were promoted and tasted in this great culinary event.

German tourism agencies representatives, which have already started a cooperation with some local companies, presented their proposals and the wine holiday programs suggesting a web visit to the area. A monastic menu inspired by the Cuisine of the Holy Mountain Athos book, written by the Mt. Athos monk Epifanios, which has been translated among other languages, into German as well, and is available in German bookstores.
