French Mothers Film Shot on Milos

LazopoulosYou Will Honor Your Mother and Your Mother, is the title of the French film in which Lakis Lazopoulos plays. The film has been shot on the Greek Cycladic island of Milos showing its beauty, and is expected to boost its tourism.

The popular Greek actor plays the mayor of the island in the period of crisis. Acclaimed singer Demis Roussos plays the priest of the island.

Scripted by the French film director and actress, Brigitte Roüan, the film describes the unlucky events of Jo who moves to Greece with her sons even though she knows that the festival she set up has been cancelled because of the crisis. She illegally occupies property since she is no longer offered accommodation and pressures the mayor’s hand to get him to put on a “little” show. The French woman will struggle to protect culture against the crisis.

The film premiere was screened today in France, while in Greece it is expected to be screened in spring.

Rouan became a director in her own right when she made a short film titled Grosse. It won a César Award in 1986. She would become a feature film director with Overseas (1990), which won the Critics’ Week award at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival. She co-starred in the film with Marianne Basler and Nicole Garcia to portray sisters in colonial North Africa during the 1950′s.
