More Austria-Greece Flights This Year

austrAccording to an article released by the Austrian journal Courier, Greece seems to be more popular in terms of flights from Austria as there’s been a 15 percent increase in flights. AIR Berlin, the second largest German airline, has limited its flights to Eastern Europe, while adding directs flights to Greek destinations, whose number has increased to 19 from 11.

New Greek destinations in the company’s program, whose flights from Vienna to Greece will not only be used by Austrians, by many Germans too, are Kalamata, Karpathos, Kavala, Mytilene and Volos. This comes on the heels of of the 38th international Tourism Fair in Vienna in which Greece had a very dynamic participation with the EOT kiosk, which had an income of many thousands from a total of 150.000 visitors of the event.

The prestigious Austrian journal Der Standard, stated that 2013 might be the year of Greek Tourism referring to Greek participants of the fair and spirialing increase in interest in Greece for summer holidays this year, despite the country’s crushing economic crisis and lingering images of the protests, strikes and riots against austerity measures in 2012 which shut down ports, harbors, taxis, the subway, trains and even the international airport at times.
