Greece Not to Participate in CMT

beuatiful places greece coolaristo 1The Stuttgarter Nachrichten newspaper comments on the decision of Greece and Spain not to take part in the International Exhibition for Caravanning, Motoring and Tourism (CMT) which is being held these days, stressing that this is not due to the Germans’ attitude towards traveling, but to cash-flow problems of heavily indebted countries.

“Almost shortly before the Exhibition the Greeks always used to announce their participation, but this time just before the opening of the exhibition they said that they would not participate,” said a CMT spokesman, Axel Recht.

As noted in the newspaper, in the previous years, ESO used to occupy a space of 250 square meters, while the Greek participation cost totally around 150,000 euros, an investment that always bore fruit.

The Greek stand Doric columns, one of the biggest visitor magnets, was in great demand for brochures of the Acropolis and Crete according to the article. “We, as well, regret not being present at Stuttgart this year. Especially since Germans are the most important target-audience for us,” stated Olympia Tsioulaki from the ESO office in Frankfurt.

The article stressed that this year’s absence is likely due to missing funds, and to the delayed financial aid loan disbursement to Greece.
