Germany Offers Language Courses for Greeks

The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees in Germany is launching a new program aiming at offering fast-track German language courses for professional purposes and people with an immigrant background who are seeking work or would like to progress in their chosen career. The courses combine language tuition, professional qualifications and practical exercises.

Even unskilled workers can benefit from the ESF-BAMF program that is being funded by the EU, as well as highly trained professionals who simply want to master communication skills while living and working in Germany.

Representatives of the German Office headed by Markus Richter are visiting Thessaloniki within the framework of the 3rd Greco-German Conference. In Greece the German language courses will first take place in Thessaloniki in cooperation with the Goethe Institute. The program commences in Greece and will be also implemented in Spain and Portugal in the future.

The number of Greeks fleeing the country’s crushing economic crisis and heading for Germany soared 78 percent this year with many giving up on their homeland in search of a better future elsewhere.
