When you think of desserts from Greece, perhaps baklava or galaktobouriko come to mind, those honey-dripped delicacies, but you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who’d name ice cream. But two Greeks, Nicolaos Christogiorgos and Nikolaos Neroladakis won first place in the Pan-European ice cream contest in Berlin.
The contestants had to make mango and chocolate flavors and the mango version made by Christogiorgos got the highest score in its category. Contestants from the Netherlands and Slovenia tied for second place, but the bragging rights for best ice cream now belong in Greece.
