Expatriates Meet at Reunion in Antigone of Prinkiponisa

A special Hellenic meeting took place on the island Antigone of Prinkiponisa (Princess Islands) in Turkey, which was always known for its cosmopolitan atmosphere and the countless beauties. The 2012 reunion was reminiscent of the island’s character centuries ago, when it the majority of its citizens were Greeks.

Greeks from Antigone created their own Facebook group and decided to get together. Most hadn’t met each other for more than 30 years, according to the Association for the Support of Greek Community Foundations official website (www.rumvader.org).

During the reunion, there were meals where more than 250 Greeks got together, talked about their lives away from Antigone and enjoyed Greek delicacies. There were Greeks who arrived from neighboring Greece, the US, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. The Turkish station NTV was present at the event and covered the meeting and the festivities that followed a night of nostalgia and remembrance.
