Greek-Austrian Paul Kaukal Organizes ‘Hellas’ Campaign to Support Greece

The purpose of an international campaign starting in Vienna entitled ‘Hellas’ is to improve Greece’s tarnished image and return it to its former glory, build excitement  about Greece’s tourism sector and in general promote Greece through international cooperation and investment. This initiative was started by a renowned Greek-Austrian businessman, economist and for many years general secretary and head of the Greek Austrian Union, Dr Paul Kaukal.

The campaign will be comprised of both Greeks abroad and in Greece whose aim is to promote the  past, present and future of Greece. The past concerns, of course,  Greek history and its impact on the European developments of the modern world.

The  present Greece refers to a ‘new’ country, focusing on green tourism, the sustainable use of  beaches and seas, the organic agricultural economy and the development of the country in the European periphery, between the Black Sea and the Middle East.

As for the future Greece, the campaign specifies the next two years as a crucial period in its development.   The slogan for this part of the initiative is “We are Greece, we are Europe, we believe in our future and face our problems.”

According to Paul Kaukal, Greek ‘patriots’ will provide the campaign with the money needed to promote Greece. These Greek sponsors will be successful industrialists, shipowners, bankers but also private individuals.

Paul Kaukal, after a meeting with several figures of Greek descent, realized they were willing to contribute not only financially but also personally in this project. The Greek-Austrian businessman will be in Athens the next few days to discuss the next steps of the campaign personally.
