Belgian Television Program to Showcase Crete

Despite political upheaval, despite financial crisis and the EU’s austerity measures imposed on Greece, citizens of Europe show their solidarity to Greece in many ways.

The initiative is Belgian this time. More specifically, the Belgian Broadcasting Corporation of the French-speaking regions (RTBF) has decided to show a report on Crete.

The Belgian Program crew will stay on Crete for a few days to report on as much material as they can regarding Crete’s natural beauty.

According to the Belgians, the shooting of this report will not be complete unless they have visited Chania, Rethymno, Aghios Nikolaos and Elounda. They also intend to visit Spinalonga island, located close to Elounda and screen its strange history – it was one of Europe’s biggest leper colonies. Sfakia and many other scenic places in Crete will, of course, be included in the report.

The main purpose of the people in charge for this initiative is to show Europe that Greece is still there – beautiful, safe and peaceful, awaiting summer visitors.

The Belgian journalists told the local media that they work for the Belgian show on RTBF, “Question d’argent,” which is pretty popular in the country.
