Austrian ‘Kronen Zeitung’ Writes Tribute on ‘Magical’ Crete

A four-page tribute to the Greek island of Crete is hosted in the pages of the one- million-readership Austrian daily newspaper Kronen Zeitung.

Titled “The Magic of Crete – An Island for Every Season of the Year,” the big tribute promotes the beauty of the famous island, stressing that “Crete is charming every season of the year.”

Accompanied by a rich illustration, the article by newspaper columnist Susanne Zita, refers to the “heavenly landscapes and coves, magnificent canyons and walking paths, small mountain villages and vivid cities that ‘multidimensional’ Crete has to offer.”

The tribute includes special references and descriptions of the Samaria Canyon, “one of the biggest in Europe, which in the 1950s was declared a protected natural area and a Greek national park.” The columnist doesn’t omit Chania and Rethymno, cities which are typical of Greece’s “looseness” as she points out, and of course Knossos, “probably the biggest ancient metropolis on the island.”

Susanne Zita closes her long praising tribute, remarking that visitors of Crete impressed by the complexity and the size of the island, soon realize that their time is too little to enjoy the whole of it and that they will surely have to come back for another visit.
