Alexis Grivas to Represent Greek Cinema in Eurimages

Alexis Grivas will be representing the Greek Film Center (GFC) in “Eurimages” of the Council of Europe. The Board of Managers of  GFC chose a man with great cinema experience, who has served the Seventh Art from various posts, according to the official announcement of the Greek Film Center.

Eurimages is the Council of Europe fund for the co-production, distribution and exhibition of European cinematographic works. Set up in 1988 as a Partial Agreement, it currently has 36 Member States. Eurimages aims to promote the European film industry by encouraging the production and distribution of films and fostering co-operation between professionals.

Alexis Grivas was born in Athens and studied cinematography in Athens and Paris, where he graduated as Photography Director from the Cinema Studies Institute. From 1967 till today, he’s worked as a Photography Director in more than 50 Greek and international feature-length film productions in Mexico and Greece, as well as many TV productions.

He’s worked in France as a freelancer with film magazines and as a foreign correspondent for Greek newspapers. In Mexico, where he lived from 1967 to 1978, he worked as a correspondent for the Italian news agency Inter Press Service and as a freelancer with popular magazines in the country. In Greece, he has worked as a publisher and writer for the magazine Greek Cinema, while working as a foreign correspondent for Mexican newspapers and commercial film publications since 1978.

He has also been a leading personality in the international promotion of Mexican cinematography, and a counselor of the Greek Film Center on issues of international festivals and promotion.
