Academic Collaboration Initiated Between Greek and Turkish Universities

The rector authorities of the Greek Aegean University and the Turkish Ege University first met in Smyrna six months ago, initiating their academic collaboration with the aim of promoting and enhancing their research work.

The two universities decided to immediately start working on the following projects in the framework of their mutual collaboration:

  •  The creation of a workshop in Smyrna by June, so that specific fields of collaboration and mutual actions be discussed and determined, particularly in regards to student and professor exchange programs.
  • The co-organization of an academic conference in Mytilini, in the winter semester of 2012, aiming at the presentation of the areas of expertise and search projects of the members of the two universities.

The completion of signing the collaboration protocol took place in the University Senate’s chamber by the Rector of the Aegean University, Professor Paris Tsartas, in presence of the Vice-rector of Ege University in Smyrna, Professor Atilla Silkü, the Vice-rectors, the deans and presidents of the Greek University and members of the Ege University delegation.
