Free Visa Encourages 800 Turkish Schools to Visit Greece

Recently, Greek officials have decided to provide some tourists coming from Turkey and Russia with free visas. This may increase the tourism from these countries in Greece, and thus, may also be followed by an increase in money.

Greek Foreign Minister Stavos Dimas’ circular about immediate free visas to Turkey and also to Russia, could give a great boost to Greek tourism and economy.

He called on the Greek diplomatic and consular officials from other countries to provide certain age groups, such as children under the age of 12, pupils, college students and teachers accompanying them to school trips of educational interest, with a free visa. Moreover, college students participating in seminars, athletic, cultural and educational events, would also visit Greece under the condition that they do not need any extra money to pay for visa permission.

“At this moment, there are 800 Turkish schools showing interest about visiting Greek islands on a school trip. Apart from them, there are also seven universities from Smyrna and Istanbul, willing to spend their college educational trips in Greece,” says tourist agent Aris Lazaris.
