“Greeks and Greek Language in Venice 2012” Events by Ca’ Foscari University

A series of events with the theme “Greeks and Greek Language in Venice 2012” (Greci e greco a Venezia 2012) is organized by the Department of Greek language and Literature of the University of Venice, Ca’ Foscari, from March 27 until April 18, 2012.

The initiative of the Italian university aims at the promotion of the valuable Greek language and literature amidst a difficult period for Greece.

The organization is under the auspices of the Greek General consulate in Venice, the Greek Cultural Foundation of Italy, the Ministry of Culture and Education of Cyprus, the European program “Erasmus Teaching Staff”, “Casa delle Parole” and “Libreria Ca’ Foscarina”.

Hellenist university professors from all across the world, authors, poets and representatives of the European Union will participate in the events.

The agenda includes speeches and conferences on the literary work of Odysseas Elytis, Andreas Kalvos, Menis Koymantareas, Nasos Vagenas – who will attend the events – and others.

The events will also host the successful exhibition “Odysseas Elytis – 100 Years from his Birth”.
