FGC Letter of Protest to Greek Standing Committee on Economic Affairs

The Federation of Greek Communities in Germany sent a letter of protest to the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the Greek Parliament, which is examining the immediate cut of 15 million Euros given as bonus payment to Greek detached teachers abroad.

In the letter, signed by the Federation’s President, Mr. Kostas Dimitriou, it is highlighted that several fields of interest in the lives of the Greeks abroad have been affected by the severe cuts and abolitions introduced in the last couple of years.

The Federation also notes that the complete cut of the 15 million Euros concern a top issue of national importance, the teaching of the Greek language to the new generations of Diaspora Greeks. By cutting this money, the Greek state will inevitably erase the last remaining signs of Greek language and culture abroad.
