The Green MEP Daniel Cohn-Bendit launched a sharp attack against Germans’ attitude towards Greece’s financial crisis.
Daniel Cohn-Bendit stated: “When the Germans were occupying Greece there were 486 Million from the Central Bank of Greece which were transferred to Germany and this money has never been paid back. So if you add about 81 Billion that is demandable, so this represents 1/6 of the debt in Greece, that is another way of seeing history in Europe.”
The Austrian social democratic politician Hannes Swoboda agreed with Daniel Cohn-Bendit, stating that Greece needs advice and not dictatorship.
However, there were still politicians who were against Greece such as the German politician and Member of the European Parliament with the Free Democratic Party of Germany, Alexander Graf Lambsdorff, who stated that Greek politicians did not manage to fulfill the needed reforms that they had promised.
