German Artist Alfred Gockel finished a series of 8 Greek Mythology Etchings
Alfred “Alex” Gockel is an internationally acclaimed artist, who sold more than 125.000.000 open editions of his art work in 35 countries. He is a master in fine arts as well as in public painting. Alfred is well known in the United States for the “contemporary action painting “, creating paintings on canvas before audience. In his last work Alfred was inspired by no other than Homer.

With the etching technique which is traditional and a contemporary signature Artemis, Hera, Aphrodite, Europa, Medusa, Apollon, Narciss and the Minotaur immortalize once again on the paper. As an expression to his attachment to the Greek culture he presented his 3 acrylic-painted pieces of Berlin Wall at the Residence of the German Ambassador, Dr. Roland Michael Wegener in Athens on the 5th of October 2010 in Athens. Alex private “European Vision” came true when he saw the piece of the Berlin Wall standing in Athens, the homeland of Democracy on the 20th anniversary of Germany`s unification.

In his next vernissage in Paris Orly in June 2012 the artist will present the world’s greatest etching, named “Ikarus”. The process of creation of this exclusive etching will take place in front of the audience. Pulled by the front wheels of a plane Alex will complete his work of the flying Ikarus, a dream of humanity which became true.
