Important Greek Presence at UN International Christmas Bazzar in Vienna

Greek officials working in the Greek services in Austria and the International Organisms based in Vienna as well as their relatives attended this year’s UN International Christmas Bazaar in Vienna, representing Greece both in presence and in numbers.

The celebrating and humanitarian event took place on December 3, aiming at raising money for poor and unfortunate children of the world. The Bazaar was hosted at the UN premises in the Austrian capital city and it was organized by the Women’s Association of UN in Vienna.

Many Greek women participated in preparing the Greek stand of the Bazaar, which offered and sold traditional Greek products, such as delicacies, food, sweets and drinks.

This voluntary act was coordinated by the charge d’affaires of Greece in Austria Mrs. Niki Kampa. Among the women joining the preparations were women employees of the Greek Embassy, the Greek Consulate, the Press and Communication Office, the GNTO, the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe), the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) or their female relatives as well as soprano singer Katerina Kouri.

The dynamics of the Greek presence in the philanthropic event was framed by a 4-hours long traditional Greek music concert performed by the band “The Greeks”. The band performed well known songs of major Greek composers Theodorakis, Hatzidakis, Loizos, Koujoumtzis, Leontis, Xarchakos, Plessas and Spanos.
