Libération Says Papandreou is Posing the Only Legitimate Question

Although the French Press up until now have expressed negative opinions about Greek PM’s referendum decision, the director of the daily Libération Nicola Demorand thanks Greece for this decision, stating: “One must be thankful to the Greeks, the avant-garde of despair, for asking the question and being the first to answer it”.

Moreover, the director adds, “In doing so they remind us that economic crises are always a prelude to a decline in democracy. We are experiencing the effects of a purely negative catastrophe-federalism that is leading to certain states to being placed under guardianship, robbed of their sovereignty, controlled by their creditors and effectively governed by leaders elected in other countries”.

In addition, the French paper La Tribune underlines the risk arising from the referendum decision in an article with the title ‘ Papandreou Wants Greeks’ Participation in the nNgotiations’. Moreover, La Tribune explains that Papandreou pursues the improvement of the plan of Brussels, something that was made known to Angela Merkel during their telephone conference on Tuesday.  Merkel expressed her understanding about Papandreou’s decision.

Furthermore,  the French newspaper Le Figaro presents an article titled ‘The Dangerous Greek Game of Poker’ , underlining that the Greek Prime Minister decided the future of his country and Euro Zone through a game of poker. The editor of the article concludes: The recent ridiculous decision leads to the potential exit of Greece from the Euro Zone under the guidance of George Papandreou”.
