Over 150 personal computers have been provided over recent years, by the Greek-German Association “Filos” (friend) of Nuremberg, towards schools, associations, bodies and students in need in the Kavala region of Greece. The town twinning of the two cities in 1999 was also a result of the association’s initiative.
The association’s members have taken this initiative since 2006, obtaining used or disassembled PCs from several companies, which they upgrade prior to giving them away. Furthermore, the association has covered the shipping costs for dispatching computers to a school in Thassos, after an appeal from Parent Teacher Associations.
The equipment has already been dispatched to Kavala and the shipping fees are covered by the Public Benefit Corporation of Kavala “Dimofeleia”.
